Dr. Amy Weaver is a friendly and knowledgeable optometrist...., Mar 15, 2010 I went to this doctor for a routine eye exam and because my eyes were bothering me (burning, itching). The doctor's assistant did some basic eye tests before Dr. Weaver came in. The assistant was friendly and explained what she was doing. Dr. Weaver then came in, asked me some questions about my eyes and the problems I was having. She then did some test which included reading some charts and making some adjustments to letters I saw with me telling which were clearer. She put drops in my eyes to dilate my pupils and did some more tests. Nothing was painful and she explained everything she was doing. She recommended some eye drops to help relieve my burning eyes, gave me some free samples to try, and told me of an alternate treatment we would try if the eye drops didn't work. It was a pleasant visit.

Inept Medical Professional with Bad Attitude Staff..., Mar 19, 2010 I went to see Toni at the Itta Bena Clinic because of some gyn issues and couldn't I was having and couldn't get an appt at another OB/GYN soon enough. I waited in her office for over an hour just to see her, yet the waiting area was completely empty. She finally emerged from her office and saw me for literally five minutes and prescribed medication. I tried explaining all of my symptoms to her and asking questions, but she wasn't interested. I also tried letting her know that the medication she prescribed may be contraindicated with what I was already taking, and again she was uninterested. I took the medication she prescribed and was slowly relieved of my issues but they came back not long after. I called her when this happened and she refused to speak to me. I live in a relatively small town, and this has never been my experience before, as most medical professionals are more than accommodating. I attempted to speak to one of the nurses on staff who screamed at me and used crass words that I cannot even repeat. She also told me to "put on a big Kotex and deal with it." Considering the issues I was going through, I was rather amazed and couldn't believe that a nurse did not have more compassion. I was in extreme pain and did not receive any further medical care from Toni Sorrel. She refused to discuss the medication I took, my symptoms, or anything else. Yet, she demanded I come have the conversation in person where I could pay a fee, but would not still not be sure if she could do anything for me. She also insisted that I go have MRI's conducted, for no apparent reason. Since her clinic is affiliated with the hospital, she obviously receives some type of kickback from the referral. Her main goal was just to make money. I am so disappointed, hurt, disgusted, and sickened by the entire experience. I will never go there again, nor would I ever recommend her to anyone else. |

Very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything. ..., Mar 11, 2010 The physician took a great deal of time explaining why she checked different things, what medications we would try and how they would work. She checked my daughter's breathing at the beginning and end of the visit as she was having asthma difficulties. She listened carefully to my daughter's descriptions of her problems and explained what should happen when we got home. |

A Unique Clinic with Great Staff where you're served with a smile..., Mar 10, 2010 I would definitely recommend Highland Family Medicine to those in the City of Rochester. The staff are friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Each suite has enough seating and space and there are plenty of good magazines. I arrived early and I was actually called early to see the doctor. This is refreshing. I met with the medical tech and they checked my blood pressure twice and then I met with the Nurse Practitioner and she was very thorough in trying to make a diagnosis. I really appreciated the attention and time I was given. This was not your typical 15 minutes in and out type of visit. All of the staff truly wanted to know how I was feeling. |

Great Doctor - Great Bedside Manner - Poor followup..., Mar 1, 2010 I have been going to this physician for some time and really like her. I feel like she understands me and my situation. However, she had to leave her practice and establish a new one. From what I understand, the practice grew very large and she wasn't getting along with the other physicians or something. Anyway, this is twice she has recommended a procedure and supposedly sent in for approval but I have not heard anything from their office. I am not going to call them back as this is the second time this has happened. My guess is that the first time things fell through because she had to change locations and establish a new staff, etc. My guess is that this time there is still a lot of confusion. Therefore, I don't think I will bother with the procedure or else I will look elsewhere. |

I was very well taken care of. He found a problem that I didn't even go to see him for...., Feb 28, 2010 I would recommend Dr. Pouw to anyone. He is a very likable guy and really knows what he is doing. I went to him for one problem and he insisted on doing another minor surgery. I am glad that he did, because he found a life threatening condition that I did not know that I had. I believe he saved my life. |
