Dr. Ghai's unprofessionalism and poor judgement almost killed me...., Feb 16, 2012

Dr. Ghai refused to have a heart cath performed on me at the request of Dr. Hess at Shands teaching hospital. I had seen Dr. Ghai about my malignant HBP. After several visits and a hospital stay he declared my problem was to much sodium. My resting BP was 167/110 at the time of my release from the hospital. I was referred to Dr. Hess at Shands for a 2nd opinion at the request of my family doctor.. Dr Hess indicated I needed a CT scan. He wondered out loud why this had not already been performed while under Dr. Ghai's care during my hospital stay. The CT showed I had Triple vessel calcification. Dr. Hess referred me back to Ghai to have the Cath performed. He felt this was necessary due to my symptons and family history(father died of heart attack at 49, mother had CABG at 62). He told me to have Dr. Ghai call for a consultation. Upon return to Dr. Ghai he refused to order the cath saying it was unnecessary. He said "I am the professional, Dr. Hess is just a surgeon". I returned to Shands were Dr. Hess had the cath performed. It revealed I had 5 blockages 752% or greater. I had CABG performed at Shands on 1/4/11. The physicians at Shands could not believe the lack of professionalism shown by Ghai. Dr. Ghai is completely incompetent. I would advise anyone seeing him to reconsider.

DO THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO SURGERY WITH DR. ALDEA: 1) Ask for the refund policy before you pay ANYTHING. You might not be provided the refund policy after you've paid the deposit. There are many outs for him not to return money if the surgery doesn't happen. 2) Don't be fooled by the good reviews out there. Some sites allow surgeons to only display the good reviews and not the negative ones. 3) Research to see if there are any lawsuits filed against him first. My experience with Dr. Aldea was NOT pleasant. He showed up 1 hr late for my surgery. Many of the nursing staff at St. Francis commented that he's frequently late and his surgeries always run over (which means you'll pay much more in the end!) On the OR table we both learned I had an irregular heartbeat. Dr. Aldea canceled the surgery but agreed to do it later if cardiac clearance was obtained. I got clearance which said that my condition was benign and to proceed with surgery as planned, but he never was satisfied, he found every excuse in the book not to do it. He dodged my calls for months! I wanted to get specifics from him on what he needed from the cardiologist. He kept having his patient coordinators say the same vague thing, "Dr. Aldea needs to know the surgery is safe for you." No cardiologist in their right mind will write "safe" in a letter. They will only say low-high risk. BTW 2 cardiologists wrote that I was low risk for the surgery and at no higher risk than a person who didn't have an irregular heartbeat. After many unreturned calls from Dr. Aldea, I got upset and asked for the truth and a refund if he didn't want to operate. He responded and said that I was ungrateful and here's your refund minus $750 deposit and he said that I didn't want the surgery. I responded that I did want the surgery but was tired of the run around and asked that he personally return a call so that we could clear up misunderstandings. Dr. Elisabeth Christine McLemore

poor service, inaccurate information, disregard for patient values or input..., Dec 18, 2011

Dr. McLemore treated me for anal condyloma. I believe she recklessly destroyed a lot of healthy tissue. She cut me up and burned me really bad and she became irritated when I complained about my pain and (temporary) disfigurement. McLemore took a large biopsy from an area I believe was healthy before the operation. It took me 2 months to recover from the biopsy and for my anus to start to regain a non-disfigured appearance. The biopsy also caused me uncontrollable pain. The biopsy turned out to have no clinical value; the biopsy result was not relevant to future treatment decisions. I was left with a small, visible scar on my anal margin from the biopsy. Dr. McLemore gave me unrealistic expectation for recovery time and pain levels. I beleive McLemore behaved with negligence and I have asked for a review of my case. McLemore seemed cold an uncaring toward me most times I saw her. McLemore insisted on not giving me any say in how the procedure was done in my case, but she refused to apologize or admit wrongdoing when her preferred method went wrong. I believe that if you have a negative outcome, McLemore will be cold and uncaring toward you. I believe she will blame you and say it was your fault for signing all the paperwork. And there is more paperwork than you will believe. Most of the paperwork I signed was immediately before the operation and this also makes me suspicious. Obviously, I don't recommend this doctor.

Dr. Amy Hoing

Nice doctor with a heavy work load that causes her to make mistakes...., Dec 13, 2011

Dr. Hoing is very pleasent to talk to, however her case load and inability to remember or take detailed notes affects her performance as a doctor. She has made repeated mistakes lately and then lied to try to save face. So far the mistakes have cost my family financialy. We left her practice as we belive she can make a mistake at anytime that will cost us our health and well being.
