Dr. Aldea Bamboozled Me, Don't Go to his practice!..., Jan 28, 2012 DO THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO SURGERY WITH DR. ALDEA: 1) Ask for the refund policy before you pay ANYTHING. You might not be provided the refund policy after you've paid the deposit. There are many outs for him not to return money if the surgery doesn't happen. 2) Don't be fooled by the good reviews out there. Some sites allow surgeons to only display the good reviews and not the negative ones. 3) Research to see if there are any lawsuits filed against him first. My experience with Dr. Aldea was NOT pleasant. He showed up 1 hr late for my surgery. Many of the nursing staff at St. Francis commented that he's frequently late and his surgeries always run over (which means you'll pay much more in the end!) On the OR table we both learned I had an irregular heartbeat. Dr. Aldea canceled the surgery but agreed to do it later if cardiac clearance was obtained. I got clearance which said that my condition was benign and to proceed with surgery as planned, but he never was satisfied, he found every excuse in the book not to do it. He dodged my calls for months! I wanted to get specifics from him on what he needed from the cardiologist. He kept having his patient coordinators say the same vague thing, "Dr. Aldea needs to know the surgery is safe for you." No cardiologist in their right mind will write "safe" in a letter. They will only say low-high risk. BTW 2 cardiologists wrote that I was low risk for the surgery and at no higher risk than a person who didn't have an irregular heartbeat. After many unreturned calls from Dr. Aldea, I got upset and asked for the truth and a refund if he didn't want to operate. He responded and said that I was ungrateful and here's your refund minus $750 deposit and he said that I didn't want the surgery. I responded that I did want the surgery but was tired of the run around and asked that he personally return a call so that we could clear up misunderstandings. His coordinator responded that he would not do the surgery until he got |

Provided extremely poor treatment for my father's cancer..., Jan 25, 2012 Dr. D. treated my dad's throat cancer (a term he never used with any of us). Dad responded very well to chemo and would have to remain on chemo the rest of his life. (His tumor in his neck had burst and he had a nasty wound that he had to deal with, but even it was doing well as he was switched to a milder chemo routine to keep the cancer from growing. And he was doing really well with that treatment.) Dad developed a knee infection and Dr. D stopped all treatment until knee doc released him. Dr. D continued to ignore my phone calls that dad's neck wound was really looking bad, saying he could do nothing for him at this time. Finally, knee doc suggested knee treatment be put on hold so cancer could be treated. So Dad went to see Dr. D and he still said there wasn't anything he could do right now, and he refused to look at his neck when asked to (of course, dad kept it bandaged). We brought dad to Louisville for treatment, but it was too late by then. The oncology doctors in Louisville were just mortified at his neck and the treatment he had received. They found it unimaginable that Dr. D. never looked at his neck (the actual cancer) and ignored his cancer treatment during the course of treatment of the knee infection (9 weeks approximately). Of course, we are heartbroken. I only tell my story in the hopes of helping someone else. In the end, dad regretted mine and my sister's pleas to get a second opinion in Louisville from the beginning. That one step could have changed everything. I hope this review helps someone make a better choice in choosing their oncologist. |

Healing wonderful exclent awesome fantastic joy peace..., Sep 22, 2011 Dr. Shah and his staff have a 6 yr realtionship with me. I ws not his most strat forward case to say the least. But when no one else would treat me there he was. With his warm smile and friendly bedside manner, telling me I was going to be ok. I went to Dr. not because I was in an accident, but because one morning I woke up and could not open my mouth, and I was in such pain that at that point giving birth to a baby elephant would have been easier, and less painful. By the time I seen Dr. I had lost over 80lbs because I was unalbe to open my mouth nothing was getting in and even water was hard to swallow. I had been in and out of the hospital several times and at one point doctors told me I would need a feeding tube. But then came Dr Shah, something in his eyes told me I was going to be saved, and here it is 6yrs later. I am 3months out of a complete replacement of the RT. Jaw and I feel FANTASTIC! I cried yesterday not in pain, but in joy. I eat my first apple in 6yrs! Dr Shah gave that to me. What a gift! I owe him and his wonderful staff so very much. There are no words but I will try. You gave me back my joy, sanity, smile and my life. I promise not to waste it. Many THANKS from the bottom of my heart Dr. Shah. |
