  Avoid this "Doctor" if you care about yourself and your loved ones!..., Apr 19, 2012

I saw this individual at Starke Shands ER per advice from my primary doctor. If you care about your health or your loved ones' health, DO NOT see this doctor. He is extrememly rude, does not listen to you, does not check what medications you are presently taking, and will not look at your injuries. Instead he prescribes painkillers without really knowing what is going on. I consulted a pharmacist with the medicaitons he prescribed because I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. His ego is truly ruining his quality of care, which to me, is practically non-existant. Beware of this quack!

Prior to my total knee replacement, the pain level was constantly between a 7-10. I was walking with a cane because my knee was constantly hurting me. Going up and down stairs was almost impossible. I was being woken up during the night from the knee pain and therefore was not getting a restful night’s sleep. I tried to exercise as much as possible but it was difficult. I started to become somewhat of a hermit because when you can’t walk you really can’t do much. I was starting to have to take time off of work because of the pain. Activitites that I lived doing, (dancing, racquet ball, walking) I wasn’t able to do any longer. I have been using Dr. Montalbano for over 10 years. I first saw him at Bayley Seton Hospital when he was taking care of another patient in the pre-op area. I was so impressed with how he was treating that patient that when he left I asked the woman who he was. Later on when I needed an orthopedist I went to see him and have been using him ever since. As far as office staff goes – I have never had a problem. Always courteous, polite, very informative, helpful and respectful of your privacy. (Even though I scheduled surgeries and cancelled them I was always treated the same.) Dr. Montalbano and his staff are always up on the latest surgical techniques, surgical procedures and treatments. Waiting time is usually not too long. When I would call in with any questions, someone always got back to me in a very reasonal amount of time. After finally scheduling the surgery, that I actually went through with, Dr. Montalbano and Michelle Pokrassa (RPA) went over the surgical procedure and any questions I had they went over with me several times until I felt that I was comfortable with the knowledge. The surgery went so much better than expected. I was so frightened of being in the hospital over a weekend but I have to say that the weekend staff was better than the weekday staff. Upon arriving as a new patient I knew that there was going to be lots of paperwork as a new patient. I waited for over an hour after my appointment time just to be told that he was running behind. After my meeting with the Dr, I was very impressed with his professionalism, but not sure that he is the Dr. that I am looking for to treat my problems. I feel that he rushed the appointment after waiting a long time for him.
  3 months 4 appt.- brought actual MRI, but not enough..., Feb 23, 2012

After waiting for over 3 months for my appointment, I arrived carrying all the necessary MRI's (which all my other doctor's said was the preferred method, so they could see & interpret on their own,) she refused to even talk with me until I could present the 'doctor's notes' that went with the MRI's. She was very unpleasant, but 'offered' me the opportunity to 're-schedule' - Not necessary. I didn't want to return to someone who apparently did not trust herself enough to read the MRI's with out seeing what a different doctor had interpreted before her. Not recommended - Not even nice!

Patient, caring, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to have as my doctor. Office staff were wonderful. Wait was short. Dr J spent time talking to me and my family. He answered all my questions and never seemed to rush me.
