HORRIBLE courtesy from the RUDEST receptionist I have ever encountered...., Mar 1, 2012

A receptionist has never treated me so rude. Since Dr. Zlobl’s office doesn’t take later afternoon appointments, and I don't get out of work until 4 p.m., I had to put in for sick time in order to leave work early. I also had to secure coverage for my classroom because I am a teacher. Since the person covering for my class ran 5 minutes late, I arrived 7 minutes late to my appointment. The receptionist was extremely rude in telling me we would probably have to re-schedule due to Dr. Zlobl's schedule, and said she called me yesterday and left me a "five minute" message explaining how important it was to be on time. I received NO such message, and when I plainly explained this, the receptionist became snooty and said, "Well, I’m not making it up." Then I realized I HAD received a call yesterday from a number I did not know. This caller did not leave a message. I pulled out my cell phone and asked what the office’s phone number was. She replied that they have 6 different lines. So I told her I would read her the number and asked if she could identify it, and she said, "I don't care." I couldn't believe it!! She didn’t care?!?! When you work with people, it’s imperative that you are empathetic, and Dr. Zlobl’s office proved that they are anything but empathetic. In the business that my husband co-owns, this type of customer service would cause you to lose your job. Needless to say, I left and did not re-schedule an appointment.

Excellent, compassionate surgeon, a true Asian eyelid surgery expert...., Feb 20, 2012

I recently went to Dr. Steinsapir located in West Los Angeles to address a bad asian eyelid surgery. I had surgery in South Korea. It was a big mistake. I live in California. I saw a bunch of so-called Asian eyelid specialists. The only one who talked to me in detail and made any sense was Dr. Steinsapir. He does surgery at the UCLA medical center. Thanks to his work, my eyes are much more symmetric, natural, and I don't look like one of my eyes was Westernized. He was able to fix the work of the prior surgeon. His office is very professional.

DO THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO SURGERY WITH DR. ALDEA: 1) Ask for the refund policy before you pay ANYTHING. You might not be provided the refund policy after you've paid the deposit. There are many outs for him not to return money if the surgery doesn't happen. 2) Don't be fooled by the good reviews out there. Some sites allow surgeons to only display the good reviews and not the negative ones. 3) Research to see if there are any lawsuits filed against him first. My experience with Dr. Aldea was NOT pleasant. He showed up 1 hr late for my surgery. Many of the nursing staff at St. Francis commented that he's frequently late and his surgeries always run over (which means you'll pay much more in the end!) On the OR table we both learned I had an irregular heartbeat. Dr. Aldea canceled the surgery but agreed to do it later if cardiac clearance was obtained. I got clearance which said that my condition was benign and to proceed with surgery as planned, but he never was satisfied, he found every excuse in the book not to do it. He dodged my calls for months! I wanted to get specifics from him on what he needed from the cardiologist. He kept having his patient coordinators say the same vague thing, "Dr. Aldea needs to know the surgery is safe for you." No cardiologist in their right mind will write "safe" in a letter. They will only say low-high risk. BTW 2 cardiologists wrote that I was low risk for the surgery and at no higher risk than a person who didn't have an irregular heartbeat. After many unreturned calls from Dr. Aldea, I got upset and asked for the truth and a refund if he didn't want to operate. He responded and said that I was ungrateful and here's your refund minus $750 deposit and he said that I didn't want the surgery. I responded that I did want the surgery but was tired of the run around and asked that he personally return a call so that we could clear up misunderstandings. Dr. Eric Rutstein

EXCEEDINGLY GIFTED, PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONABLE - ..., Dec 30, 2011

I have been a patient of Dr. Rutstein's for over a year and find him to be a GREAT doctor, exceedingly gifted in his field. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable when it comes to managing complicated cases (i.e. multiple disorders, disorders in addition to other medical conditions). He is incredibly educated in regards to medications AND their side effects. He has no problems in answering any questions or addressing any concerns you may have. If a particular side effect is a concern for you (i.e. weight gain, drowsiness) he does his best to find alternatives. He is very personable, which is rare, as generally psychiatrists tend to be very clinical. He spends a good amount of time with you, never making you feel rushed. He listens, asks questions, and asks your thoughts on things before he gives you his take. In my experience, he is not just concerned about making an illness or situation manageable, but in truly improving a patient's quality of life. His staff is friendly and very helpful. You can definitely tell both Dr. Rutstein and his staff enjoy what they do. I happily recommend him to anyone looking.
