Provided extremely poor treatment for my father's cancer..., Jan 25, 2012

Dr. D. treated my dad's throat cancer (a term he never used with any of us). Dad responded very well to chemo and would have to remain on chemo the rest of his life. (His tumor in his neck had burst and he had a nasty wound that he had to deal with, but even it was doing well as he was switched to a milder chemo routine to keep the cancer from growing. And he was doing really well with that treatment.) Dad developed a knee infection and Dr. D stopped all treatment until knee doc released him. Dr. D continued to ignore my phone calls that dad's neck wound was really looking bad, saying he could do nothing for him at this time. Finally, knee doc suggested knee treatment be put on hold so cancer could be treated. So Dad went to see Dr. D and he still said there wasn't anything he could do right now, and he refused to look at his neck when asked to (of course, dad kept it bandaged). We brought dad to Louisville for treatment, but it was too late by then. The oncology doctors in Louisville were just mortified at his neck and the treatment he had received. They found it unimaginable that Dr. D. never looked at his neck (the actual cancer) and ignored his cancer treatment during the course of treatment of the knee infection (9 weeks approximately). Of course, we are heartbroken. I only tell my story in the hopes of helping someone else. In the end, dad regretted mine and my sister's pleas to get a second opinion in Louisville from the beginning. That one step could have changed everything. I hope this review helps someone make a better choice in choosing their oncologist.
No help or care, no followup and a big, unexpected bill. ..., Nov 26, 2011

I was very unhappy with my visit to Dr. Lin. I had a painful ear problem that had been going on for a month, and all she did was look in my ear and say she didn't find anything. No inquires about how long I've had the problem and attempt to investigate the issue. She eventually did a very small procedures that she said might help or might not, and then charged the procedure as ambulatory surgery so that I would have to pay for half the cost instead just an office visit which is covered. Despite the fact that I left in pain, she never followed-up and never even attempted to help figure out what is wrong with me. I'm still in pain.

Awful Dr, No Bedside Manner, no compassion, RUDE!!!..., Nov 15, 2011

Ive been Diabetic for 25yrs.I got ketones w/a reading of 849.Tried to get an emergency appt.He couldnt see me for 2wks!I ended up in a hosp. When he came to see me he treated me like a kid, didnt listen to me or my ?s.I thought it was insulin resistance W/o checking my meds or pump he said NO.I asked if it was allergies like a fever/cold causing insulin to not work properly, he said hed NEVER heard of that & told me to stop trying to come up w/ excuses. He asked why I hadnt come back to him sooner & it was b/c HE wanted me to go to other Drs before returning & it took time to do so.He asked how I had tried to get the B.S down & told me that once the B.S got 400+ that I shouldve taken a syringe, pulled up EXTRA insulin & injected it.I said a past Dr told me to do that but only w/a sliding scale & w/ Regular insulin not Novolog, that Id overdose. He showed NO BEDSIDE MANNER.I was in TEARS.THEN he sent a certified letter 2 days later dismissing me from his care w/o a reason!DO NOT GO TO HIM!
Best MD I ever had! Believes in treating with the patiet's mind instead of massive drugs for a quick..., Nov 14, 2011

As a football player at The Ohio State University, and also 6 year professional football player (All-Pro), Dr Smayda is one of the best two I have ever had. The other doctor is orthopedic so he doesnt count in this review. Dr Smayda goes way beyond what most doctors do in a standard check up and will stay on top of your healing process and the rountine he expects you to follow! You will not be looked at as a "fast food" patient like many other physicians do who are so concerned with the number of patients they have instead of thoroughly TREATING the ones they already have. Dr Smayda WILL listen, research, understand, and diagnose your problem to the fullest extent and beyond until you are healed. I wish he didnt move to New York! he saved my life and brought me from full diabetic with insulin shots, high cholestoral, high blood pressure, and massive weight gain to a 60 lb lighter person who only takes vitamins. He lower and got rid of everything negative I mentioned WITHOUT the use of medication but rather with a diagnosis tailored specifically for me.
